Good evening, all!
As the sewing machine is occupied by my wife and I am waiting for my kit and the rulers to arrive, I spent a lot of time watching videos and pondering.
True to my nature (apparently...), I will be going "full in", hence I will be using my own measurements for my coat - either I end up with a decent-to-perfect coat, or I will take it like a man! (I.e. having a tantrum, throwing it all in the bin and then start anew...)
I know my height (68 1/3"), Chest (39 3/4"), Waist (35 7/8") and seat (37 3/8").
Posture-wise, I have rather broad shoulders, a hollow lower back and rather slim hips.
Question 1: Would these measurements be too far out of the ordinary to adapt the pattern, using the rules and fixes measurements used in the video?
Question 2: Are there any other culprits I might want to keep in mind, before drafting the pattern or rather cutting the fabric? (The way things are going, I am probably continuing to lose weight - so I will probably end up having to take some seams in, instead of laying them out...)
Any insights and experiences would be very much appreciated!
Cheers
Jeroen
Hi Jeroen,
Rory replied on my 'Making Toiles and Fitting' Discussion with how you can input your own measurements into the draft.
I started by doing the 40" sample draft but am now going back and redoing my draft to chest 36" waist 30" height 72" which are my models measurements.
Check out that discussion in The Art of Fitting Coats forum and it may be some help.
