Hi everyone! In Rory’s measurements video he takes the point to point measure, i.e from one shoulder point to the other. I guess that cutters use this as a control measurement as I’ve seen many cutters take this measure but rarely seen a drafting system utilizing this, instead opting for the half back as a guide. How would you use the point to point measure when checking the pattern before cutting?

The point to point measure is usually 10” greater than the half back. So say your half back was 8 1/2” the point to point would be 18 1/2”. So I usually take the point to point first to help predict the half back measurement. Since we don’t take a shoulder width, the point to point can be used instead. The point to point on the pattern is from PT0 to PT13A. Well half of it is.
