Can anyone tell me what the coat and waistcoat trimming packages should contain. I ordered all three packages from Dugsdale, only to find out that the trouser package was incomplete. No waistband stiffener and no labels....
As I didn’t subscribe to the coat and waist coat yet, trousers are first, I don’t know what the packages should contain. If there is anything missing fromthose packages, I’d like Dugsdale to know immediately and send it ot me together with the waistband stiffener.
So, can anyone help me and tell me what should be in the coat and waistcoat packages?
Goeiemiddag, Renee!
As far as the coat is concerned: So far, the coat pack seems to be complete, nothing's missing - contents from the website: Cloth (Navy)
Lining
Buttons
Chest Canvas
Domette
Sleeve Lining
Fusible Interlining
Holland
Silesia
Sleeve Head Roll with Canvas
Shoulder Pads
Collar Melton
Collar Canvas
As far as the trouser packs are concerned, there are at least two entries here in the General Discussions Forum, where this is discussed: https://www.handcrafttailor.com/forum/general-discussions/which-are-the-best-extras-to-order-complete-the-hta-trouser-pack
and
https://www.handcrafttailor.com/forum/general-discussions/missing-articles-from-trouser-pack/
If you compare the information of these entries with the list on Dugdale Bros Website:
Cloth (Navy)
Trouser fasteners
Zip
Brace button
Magi slides
Strap button (Navy)
Silesia
Lining
Linen Canvas
Sleeve Lining
you can see that both the fusible and the waistband are still not included, so you'd have to order these extra.
For the waistcoat: I see no video yet on Vimeo, so it's going to be hard to tell you much about it, but if I compare it to the coat pack above:
Cloth (Navy)
Buttons (6 - Navy)
Holland
Silesia
Lining
Sleeve Lining
I see cloth, buttons, holland and silesia, as well as (sleeve) lining. Looks rather complete to me, as I suppose there isn't any canvas, collars or shoulder padding involved.
@Rory Duffy will know best, I am sure.
By looking at your name and your style of writing, I assume you are Dutch?
There are a few Dutch or Belgium fellow sewists on here who are happy to help and point you towards Dutch suppliers who might be able to get you missing materials. That' be way quicker and cheaper too.
You can contact me directly here, if you want to.
Cheers Jeroen
Hi Jeroen,
very Dutch indeed! Thanks for the list, I”l check my packages in a moment.
It kind of annoys me that stuff is not included in the package but is mentioned in the course. I was under the impression that a package would contain everything needed to sew a pair of trousers.
The fusing is no problem, I have loads of that (not my first pair of men’s trousers made this way, just the first one with Rory), neither are the labels (just a nice to have). I‘d love to hear your Dutch supplier for a bit of waistband stiffener as getting stuff from the UK is quite expensive.
