My Master in Henry Poole Paul Frearson was told this when he started his training in 1959 and its still going strong.Tailoring has certainly been on the decline. At one time all Gentlemen would have had there everyday dress, morning and evening tails, and in some cases servant uniforms made on Savile Row.When I began my training at HP there where two floors of tailors workshops that were mostly empty as tailors retired with out apprentices to replace them.I do foresee a day long after I am gone at all clothing will be Made to measure. Every shopping centre will have 3D body imaging scanners to size people. Shop fronts will have fitting rooms with screens that will style you in the latest outfit and these garments will be purpose made for each client. I recall a fashion stylist colleague of mine saying how most clothing in store has only a 60% sell through. There is so much waste in the fashion industry something needs to change.
