If you want to save on cloth that's the best system. Otherwise its a shot in the dark. Around 2 yards for a coat, 1 3/4 yards for a trouser and 3/4 for a waistcoat. 4.5 yards for a suit round 42 - 444m up to 404.25m 40 -424.75m 44-465m 47 and over.
No idea how much cloth i would need, so I drafted the pattern first, measured off the width of a folded cloth length on my board and laid the patterns out. Came to about 3.5m.

One of those bizarre requests. "I saw you on tv, can you make this for our city Council".
Great question. I recently had to make a red robe.
If you look at Dugdale's site, where they offer Rory's kits, you'll see the option to "upgrade" to Vantage cloth in Navy or Grey.
In their description, they write:
Coat Pack: 1.8metres
Trouser Pack: 1.5metres
Waistcoat Pack: 0.7metres
If you are ****** / rounder / bulkier - you should add bit to that.
I remember Rory telling or writing about this - but for the life of me, I can't find it, where he did...
