It’s finally here folks, the trouser making series. After much discussion with students past and present we decide to start with a belt loop style. We did include side straps as requested, this allows one to make either a high rise straight top trouser or a low rise belt loop style, or vice versa.
We have released part 1 for now, which is about 80% of the construction. So far we have from draft to first fitting, which will be followed shortly by all the finishing work. Part 2 will be released on or before Feb 25th.
Believe it or not but Savile Row Trouser makers only make the trouser up to the fitting stage, after any alterations are made they are passed to the finisher for hand sewing.
It takes a trouser maker about 6 hrs to make the fitting for which they are paid about £180. The finisher then does about 3 hours of hand sewing for they are paid £35.
If you never thought that wage disparity was a thing, think again. Most trouser makers are men and most finishers are women.
Tut tut, Savile Row.

Will you add additional videos with more traditional bespoke thechniques for a half band top brace trouser model with less fusing in the future??? That would be great.
