I had a question about the make of an overcoat. Do we pad stitch the collar and lapel of an over coat or is the weight of the cloth going to affect it?
In my opinion, this depends on the type of overcoat. If the overcoat is double-breasted with a 'reversible' lapel, then I would NOT pad stitch the lapel - just rely on the taping around the canvas edge to hold it all together.
On the other hand, if the overcoat is SB or a DB without a reversible lapel, then I probably would pad stitch as for a normal coat, although again I'd say it's not essential.
Ok i see.......Thanks
