Dear all,
I have no issue pressing forward pleats, but I have always struggled to restore reverse pleats, as I always end up with the top part tilted towards the fly (see picture 1). It would be much appreciated if someone could give any tips/ tricks or let me know if there are any videos/ materials that show how reverse pleats are pressed back to the correct position after wash so that the pleat runs straight, clean and crisp all the way from top to bottom (see picture 2).
Picture 1: as can be seen it doesn't run straight
Picture 2: Result I want to achieve
Many thanks in advance.
Cheers
Jack
Another thought. Which side are you pressing from? The underside shrinks the most.
Your problem, and its solution, are discussed by Tom Mahon in the first few mins of this vid:

I'll confess I don't know much about pleats, but it looks to me like the first grey trousers are much tighter than the green pair, so this might pull the pleat open more and disturb it. And, as Rory suggested, the pleats on the green trousers seem much deeper.
But I'm afraid I can't suggest why you're getting better results from the same pair of pants when your dry cleaner presses them, sorry.
Thank you, @Rory Duffy. But how deep the pleats should not prevent them from being pressed straight after wash🤔? When I take them to dry cleaning, dry cleaners could always magically do them right (i.e. the white line below).
Deep pleats fold better. My typical pleat depth is 1 3/4”
