Hi Rory,
Thanks for the trousers’ video, well worth the waiting…
Now, in your pattern, if I want to add single pleats facing the pockets, what should I do? Just add the pleats size to the waistband measure, or is there other parts that need to be adjusted as well?
Also, what is a good size for single pleats? My trousers size is 32’’.
Thanks,
Tony
We should be adding the notes to the draft tomorrow.
Thanks, I'll give it a try.
Hope to post some pictures from my progress. I'll start the pattern tomorrow, want to watch all the videos first, so I know what to expect...
Hi Tony, Great question. There’s actually a super easy way to add pleats to trouser, especially if it’s a single pleat. Draft up the trouser pattern, personal I add an inch to the hem and knee over what I would give on a plain trouser, but that’s not a hard fast rule. Then cut down the centre crease line from the waistband to the hem. For the pleat to fold to the side seam. Hold the fly side section on grain and open the pocket side 1 1/2” at the waist and trace off. For the pleat to fold to the fly, hold the pocket side on grain and open the fly side 1 1/2” at the waist and trace off. I vary my pleat depth according to the waist size. 1 1/2” for 30- 33 1 3/4” for 34- 37 2” for 38 and over
