As of today we have completed the ladies jacket making series and Desirée has started uploading it to Vimeo.
I plan to start shooting the waistcoat tomorrow. I know many of you have been anxiously waiting for it’s release and I can say with confidence you won’t have to wait too much longer.
The waistcoat should be a quicker series to record, edit and produce as it is a simpler garment to make.
I recognise I am not on track to deliver all I had hoped for 2021 but I am confident that by early next years we will have plenty of content to keep you all satiated.
It is my hope that we will have a Tailcoat, Overcoat and Dinner Jacket series available during 2022. You’ll need the skills and experience from the coat making series to tackle each of these garments.
I have promised my father a Covert coat for Christmas last year, so maybe this will be the year he gets to wear it. If you’ve read my previous post I did mention a Dinner Jacket for a wedding. Its not compulsory but it would be nice to have something close to it to wear.
If you would indulge me for a moment,
what is the next series after the waistcoat that you would like to see?
I would love to see/learn how to make the higher waisted brace-top trousers. Maybe with no fusing and more options/details for various leg figurations.
I would also second the double breasted waistcoat.
I would also be interested in a country jacket of some kind, maybe a shooting jacket, or more casual garment with patch pockets and the like.
Very excited about all the content. Thank you for teaching us and sharing your knowledge.
I would like to see:
A classic peacoat
A video series on fitting garments. ie. how a back should look?, tailoring terms like blade drape, How to make corrections/alterations for different body habitus etc.. A series that would include your book and how to use it.
I'm liking a lot of the suggestions people have already made, but I would also be very happy to see a video series on the making of an overcoat
Add them here to remind me, please:
A few month ago we collected some ideas on future videos here In the Forum. Please, don’t forget them ....
Evening tailcoat.
Some of these are not full 'garments', but more components. I would love to see:
- Smoking jacket with frogging/brading and a shawl collar.
- Something with turnback cuffs.
- Different styles of pleated/sports backs.
- Inverness and/or other greatcoat styles with detachable capes.
- Something double-breasted.
- Poacher's pocket with support strap.
- Frock coat with full skirt.
- Different styles of pockets: e.g. lined patch, pleated, bellows (particularly bellows) with flaps etc.
- Different styles of coat lining, e.g quarter lined/ 'buggy' lining.
- How to apply jacket edging e.g. silk tape as in for a dinner jacket.
- Decorative edge treatments in general.
- How to apply decorative braiding to military coats.
Sorry fo the long list, but... you wanted ideas! We hugely appreciate your continued efforts in this area. Thanks for everything you're doing.
Again, is it possible this time round you serve us with a Double breasted shawl lapel waist coat as it appears we’ve mostly covered notch and peak single breasted in the coat making series Sir?
Thank you
This type of tail coat would be very much appreciated Sir
