Is it possible to lower the top buttoning point to the waist line on Rory's two button coat draft in an effort to elongate the V shape opening of the coat?
I remember Rory talking about moving the buttoning point to the waist line for a single button coat but would it throw everything off on a two button coat?
Would the pockets then have to be moved lower? etc.....
Paul ever tailor has a creative license to express themselves through their work. Every line is a style line which can be moved or manipulated to create a look that one desires. You may know that I do have some rules around pocket placement. It’s a result of the dart suppression at the waist line when finishing in the pocket. A good guide is to have the pocket at least 3 1/2” below the waist line. The second button is then either 1/4” above the pocket, on the dart line or 1/2” below the pocket. The first button can moved to the waistline with consideration be given to the pocket and chest dart.
