I just posted this same question. In the Vimeo series Rory answers another students question like this. "The pocket bag is cut as you go, so there is no pattern. The measurements should be mentioned in the videos.
Take a double piece of pocketing cut it at 17” long and 16” wide. Then fold the 16” side in half to 8”.
On the raw edge side cut back 1” at the top off the pocket bad down to nothing, so there’s a slant on the raw edge side. Then rim about 1 1/2” triangle off the wide end on the raw edge.
I realized that I needed more material than the 17 x 16. I will be cutting my new material to 17in x 21in. Hope this helps.

Hi Jeroen,
I did look in the notes and saw on page 3 of the pattern drafting the pocket depth should be 12" to 13-1/2".
I would like to know how wide we should be cutting the pocket.
I see in the video it should Rory has a couple of inches of overlap when he folds the pocket over.
