I used the pocket bag measurements (17 in long x 16 in wide) that Rory gave to another students question on the Vimeo series. I seem to come up short. After attaching the pocket facing to the pocket bag, I fold the pocket material leaving three inches from the fold to the fly. When I do this I am basically folding the 16 inches in half. So I have an 8 inch wide pocket. I do not have the excess overhang material needed for later steps. my pocket bag material does not come out past my pocket bag facing. My guess is that the answer is I just cut a new pocket bag adding 5 inches on it. So, a 17" long and 21 inch wide piece. Hope I am on the right track now. If I am not please let me know. I am a novice. I have never made a garment before.

Great, Thank you for sharing your knowledge. The prospect of me being able to make beautiful trousers is very exciting. Being able to learn from a tailor of your calibur is rare and I am very greatful for this opportunity. I am now clear on cutting my front pocket bags.
Each pocket bag needs to be custom cut for the waist measurement. Hence the reason we don’t have a template for the hip pockets. It’s more important to follow the steps shown than the measurements given. Such as creating the over hang at the side seam. The bottom of the pocket bag being 6” below the pocket mouth at the side seam is probably the only measurement that needs to be correct. This will determine how deep the pocket bag is when finished.
