Cutting the canvas, where did I go wrong?

Hi, I seem to have done something wrong, but for the life of me: I can't find the culprit.

The questions: 1) What did I do wrong? 2) Since the canvas isn't reaching all the way down to the hem ... I'll have to order new canvas, I guess?

I have been working on "Cutting the canvas", Video 6, Ep. 4. I will try to reproduce the issue with photos:

1) Measuring the canvas by laying the forepart on it:

2) Folding the canvas, so there's the 9" edge on both sides:

9" on both sides.

3) Folding the canvas and cutting the folds:

5) Laying both halves on top of each other:

6) Putting the fore part on top of it and cut...

This can't be correct, can it?!
