I'd like to make a 3 piece suit for my husband and am wondering if I need more fabric than the recommended 4 meters.
He is 6 feet, 7 inch tall, bust girth 40,5 inch, waist 37 inch, hip 42 inch.
So the question is, do I need more fabric than the recommended 4 meters for a 3 piece suit?
You should probably order at least another 1/2 yard.
I agree with Benjamin. Err on the side of too much fabric. I've been told to buy at least enough fabric to be able to cut an additional jacket front if needed. If possible, I buy more.
I would say: absolutely yes. Think of it this way: if you run out of cloth, you may not be able to buy more. Then, you literally cannot finish the project, and you've wasted all your money. Whereas if you buy too much cloth and you end up not needing it, then the only down side is you spent a little bit more than you needed to.
In my opinion, it is ALWAYS better to err on the side of too much cloth rather than too little. This is particularly relevant to beginners!
I would suggest 5m for your project. That gives you plenty of wiggle room. Think of it as insurance. ;)
