I thought I'd be brave and post a progress shot, with this terrible photograph. I'm halfway through, it's the second coat I've ever made. Made the first one under the supervision of Rory at the HTA nearly two years ago! I've been trouser making since then. I'm making this coat for me using a Jo Baker Waters draft and Rory's method. It's pretty good, I've got a few issues, mostly that it's a little "*****". I seem to have drafted for the chest I've always wanted and not the one I've got, but in some ways.... You know? Isn't that the beauty of canvas? So I need to make a few fitting adjustments, hence the lining hanging out. My plan is to complete and just "chalk it up" to experience and then start again. But, I am happy with the balance and the overall shape.

The line from the waist to hip looks great!
Agreed on the canvas point... Before making my first coat I didn't 'get it' at all with the horsehair. In fact, I didn't realise what it was doing until I gave the coat a prod while trying it on. I was disappointed to see that the developed chest I appeared to have was entirely fabrication (as it were...) 😉 A fantastic tailors' invention!
