Happy Saturday everyone.
I have somewhat completed this coat but I believe it still needs a few touch-ups especially in the back.
The sleeves were basted on and off this thing at least 30 times but will all of my efforts I could now clean up the undersleeve near the side seams. I should mention the I did bring in both side seems 3/4 on the double to remove the excess draping. Could this have distorted the armhole?
Should I try rotating the sleeves? Pitch them further forward?
I'm out of ideas, I need some help on how to clean up the undersleeve. I tried passing some cloth (ie carving out) but this resulted in creasing further down the sleeve.
Looking forward to your feedback.
Right armhole measured 21.5
Left armhole measure 21.75
Both sleeves sleeves measured 23.25
Looks great. Wear it.
I think this is a really fine effort. It looks well finished and really clean overall. I’m afraid I don’t have any experience to comment on solutions to the folds at the back/sleeve so I’ll let others do that instead. But really well done!!
I actually think that this coat looks just fine. I would be happy with it - wouldn't change a thing. I've seen coats from professional bespoke tailors with messier backs.
If you're really keen to clean up the undersleeve, I'd suggest that you might need to scoop it out more. I tried to insert a photo but the image upload won't work, so you'll just have to figure out what that means, sorry.
However, this can cause issues with reduced movement, so the sleeve might look better, but it won't be as comfortable to wear. Also, it lengthens the undersleeve seam, so you will have to ease it in more. Or, you might need to reduce the width of the undersleeve in order to make it fit the armhole.
