The edge of my hip pocket on my draft is 15/8 away from the side seam.
Is this correct?
Is there a general guideline for how far the edge of the hip pocket should be to the side seam?
I want to be sure before I make my first pocket baste.
Any guidance would help . Thank you
The centre back dart is usually half way across the quarter waist plus 1/2" towards the seat seam. The second dart is quarter of the the quarter waist plus 1/2" towards the seat seam. The centre of the back pocket is in the middle of these two darts. If one was dealing with a small waist like 34 of less the pocket width would be 5 1/2". 36 or less would be 5 5/8", 38 would be 5 3/4. 38 or more could be increased to 6".
Hi Paul, I'm not sure if this answers your question, but there is some guidance on the third page of the trouser draft – 1 1/4" to 1 1/2", including the 3/8 seam.
