-
Have a residence card issued by an EEA country or Switzerland because you are the family member of an EEA or Swiss citizen living in a country outside of the EEA/Swiss family member’s home country (for example, you live in Germany with your French spouse)
-
Have a UK short-stay visa and qualify for the short-stay visa waiver or the British-Irish Visa Scheme

*Schedule 1 contains a list of countries that DO NOT NEED a visa. If your country is NOT listed, you must apply for a visa before you travel to Ireland*
What if I want to do back-to-back courses?
Students who wish to do more than one course from a VISA-exempt country can do so either by
- Taking no more than two courses a year with 90 days in between visits
- Apply for a VISA extension
If I'm applying for a VISA, what documentation do I need from The HTA to accompany my application?
If you need to apply for a VISA, please contact admin@handcrafttailor.com with the following information to avoid delays:

- Your chosen course and term dates or dates you would like to attend
- Name as it appears on your passport
- Passport number and your country's citizen number
- A brief explanation of why you are seeking a VISA to attend and what you will do with the education you receive from The HTA
Once we have this information, you will be emailed an acceptance letter, an invoice and an invitation letter which will accompany your VISA application.
Other things to be aware of when applying for a VISA
- Your passport's expiry date. It is advised to ensure your passport is within date for the duration of when you wish to visit. If your passport expires within 6 months of application, renew your passport first
- The VISA application process can take a few months. The HTA suggests choosing a course date that gives ample amount of time for your application to be reviewed and corrected if necessary
- To avoid delays and incurring fees with your application, ensure that you have all the correct paperwork with the necessary information.
E.g., the application will ask for banking information - be sure that your name/address/and other information is clearly visible
